Journal of Medical Diagnostics & Research (JMDR) is committed to the long-term preservation, discoverability, and accessibility of all published content. This policy outlines the strategies and best practices adopted by the journal to ensure that scholarly materials remain secure, persistent, and openly accessible for future generations of researchers, clinicians, and academics.

1. Long-Term Digital Preservation

To ensure permanent access to its content, the journal adopts a multi-layered digital preservation strategy:

• Third-Party Archiving: All published articles are deposited with trusted preservation services, including CLOCKSS, LOCKSS, and Portico. These platforms provide decentralized and secure archiving to protect against accidental data loss, platform discontinuation, or journal closure.

• Institutional Repositories: Authors are strongly encouraged to deposit their final published versions (postprint/PDF) in their institutional or subject-specific repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, Europe PMC), in accordance with funder and institutional policies.

• Publisher's Platform: Articles remain permanently accessible via the journal’s official website and digital publishing platform, where no paywalls or embargoes apply.

2. Full-Text and Metadata Preservation

• Full Content: Each published article—including abstract, main text, references, tables, figures, and multimedia supplements—is stored securely.

• Structured Metadata: Metadata such as author names, affiliations, ORCID IDs, keywords, funding sources, DOI, and publication date are preserved and made searchable via indexing systems and external databases.

• Supplementary Materials: Research datasets, appendices, figures, and videos are archived either on the journal’s servers or in trusted data repositories (e.g., Figshare, Dryad), enhancing transparency and reproducibility.

3. Persistent Identifiers (DOI)

Each published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), which serves as a permanent and citable link. DOIs are registered through CrossRef, ensuring interoperability, discoverability, and referencing even if URLs or hosting platforms change.

4. Accessibility and Format

• Open Access: All content is available immediately upon publication without any subscription fees, paywalls, or access delays.

• No Embargo Policy: Articles are published and archived with instant public access, consistent with open-access mandates.

• Formats: Articles are published in PDF, HTML, and XML formats to ensure accessibility across devices, platforms, and assistive technologies.

5. Redundancy and Backup

• The journal maintains redundant backup systems at multiple geographical locations.

• Automated and manual backups are performed regularly to ensure data safety in case of hardware failure, cyber threats, or natural disasters.

6. Retractions, Corrections, and Versioning

• Retractions, corrections, and errata are permanently archived and clearly linked to the original articles.

• Retracted articles are not deleted but are watermarked and labeled as “Retracted,” maintaining the integrity of the academic record.

• All changes are handled in compliance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.

7. Legal Compliance and Copyright

• The journal adheres to Creative Commons licensing (CC BY or equivalent), allowing broad sharing while retaining author rights.

• All archiving processes comply with international copyright, data protection, and intellectual property laws.

8. Sustainability and Environmental Commitment

In support of digital sustainability, the journal minimizes print production and promotes digital dissemination as a low-carbon alternative. Archiving efforts are optimized for energy-efficient storage, and partnerships with green-certified service providers are prioritized.

9. Monitoring and Review

This policy is reviewed annually to remain aligned with international standards in scholarly publishing (e.g., LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, COAR, NISO). Updates are made to enhance preservation workflows, metadata structures, and repository integration.
